I wanted to show how much theatrical animation has changed in the last few years. Incorporating 2D elements has always been attempted but was rare and went unnoticed. That’s not the case anymore with more adopting it, anime too!
My favorite set of Color keys I painted for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. I spent 2 years+ on this project and it was an absolute joy. It’s amazing seeing how close Mikros animation got to these paintings with the final shots. Set design is done by Sean Sevestre. I painted these while I was in nyc!
mutant mayhem was great but unfortunately it does contain flashing without a warning. if you’re planning on seeing it, the flashing starts in the scene where the turtles are in cynthia utrom’s lab and continues in the fight in superfly’s lair, i unfortunately don’t have timestamps though. feel free to share to spread the word for those who are planning on seeing the movie but may be harmed by flashing lights
Mutan Mayhem was adorable. Made the childhood turtle fanatic in me boil up to tears.
They are SO teenager. And usually, as an adult, I find that grading. But in this instance it was the most charming thing. And I adored them all! I usually have one, maybe two favorites among the four but I don’t think I could choose just one now.
Definetly recommend it! Long time turtle fan or not, it’s so damn fun.
By the power of mutant mayhem coming out and the one year anniversary of rottmnt and the emotional cass apocalyptic series the tmnt fandom shall annoy the fuck out of tumbler
